Life, Liberty and The Pursuit of Nappyness: In an economically recessed climate, Nappy Roots has joined the rest of the nation in trying to understand and work through financial and emotional struggles. No stranger to challenges, this four-man collective from Kentucky tackled their obstacles and, in the process, their self-honest work emerged in form of 5 studio albums and 10 mix-tapes. Elway is an American punk rock band from Fort Collins, Colorado. Their sound is a unique and inebriated take on a time-tested formula: aggressive punk rock with soaring melodies coupled with lyrics ranging from that of the sad sap to the indignant atheist with a bevy of homespun dick jokes. Win Tickets ($24): Into it. Over it. @ The Vera Project | Indie/Emo, w/ The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die, A Great Big Pile Of Leaves, Special Explosion (January 28)
For years I had played, written, recorded and performed in bands. The Progress, Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A Start, Map The Growth, Stay Ahead Of The Weather and Damiera have been a few.
From September 2007 to September 2008, I wrote (and recorded) one song each week for an entire year. This project (which was called 52 Weeks) was available online weekly during that year. Since it’s completion, Chris at No Sleep Records approached me about releasing the record. We remixed it, mastered it and (with the help of Brian Mietz) put together an amazing layout. The 2xCD was released on June 23rd, 2009. To win, comment on this post here.

That is the recipe that Polyrhythmics have crafted and delivered to packed clubs, and festival crowds up and down the west coast in the past 3 years. The 8 members of this dynamic world-beat orchestra, weave a clever web of deep, hypnotic grooves, creative, yet melodic interplay, clever horn-hooks, and searing solos that ignite every dance-floor that has laid before them.
